Landsape Painter

Monty’s depiction of landscape is alluring; often describing innate views, directed away from photo-worthy subjects, the viewer is left roadside to study her empty country scenes. Despite the underlying sense of solitude, her paintings share her affection for regional Australia.

Monty was appointed the 2018 Cossack Artist in Residence, a month-long residency in remote Western Australia. Her proceeding solo show, Pilbara Perspectives, showcased her multi-panel oil paintings as well as sketches and photographic works.

Monty was Category Winner Pilbara Landscape, at the 2019 Cossack Art Awards. She was a selected finalist for the 2018 Hedland Art Awards, received a Highly Commended for her entry in the 2014 Cossack Art Awards and is a multiple Category winner from the Dampier Art Awards in 2013 and won Best Pilbara Landscape again in 2015 and 2016.
